Sorry, but you will have diabetes for the rest of your life barring some miracle cure that is nowhere on the horizon

Reversal or Remission does NOT mean that you are no longer diabetic

They are misleading terms that actually mean that you are controlled so well, without medication, that your blood sugar is no longer clinically diabetic

The actual medical definition of remission is:

An A1C of under 6.5% (47.5 in the IFCC system) for a minimum of 90 days without using any anti-diabetic medication

Fasting Blood sugars consistently below 126/7.0 mmols

Maintaining a sub-6.5 A1C annually without medication

Now nowhere there does it say "no longer diabetic"

To achieve the above you almost certainly "Must" - get your BMI below 25 (with low 20's being better), count your carbs/eat your meter so that your post meal (post prandial) blood sugar "rarely" exceeds 140/7.8 mmols, get enough sleep and exercise and minimize stress so that your Fasting Numbers never exceed 126/7.0 mmol's

That is a truckload of work so that you can have bragging rights about being in remission

I have been there since November of 2016 myself and can tell you it is a ton of work - I watch, plan, chart and count everything that goes into my mouth - no pizza, no donuts, no regular coke, no sugar in my coffee and the list goes on - you are not going to "fix your diabetes"

And you don't go in remission to "no longer be diabetic" - if you choose that path you do it to preserve your function and extend your life by working hard

It's almost impossible to die from diabetic complications if your blood sugar is not "clinically diabetic"

And that has to be your motivation. The "old days" are gone and you can never go back

If that sounds like too much work for little "immediate benefit" then that tells you why there is a flourishing pharmaceutical industry - because you can always take a pill (or an injection) to do all that hard work for you....

Some people can keep there numbers down to normal levels. That takes alot of self control and work. I'm not one of them. You can get your diabetes well controled but you will always be diabetic.
