What Does It Really Mean When You Say "I'm Struggling To Get My Blood Sugar Under Control?"

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question đź’
Inverary, ON

That comment totally baffles me

You either control your blood sugar however you have to do it OR

You are not really/truly concerned about it at all

Now, if you mean you Promised your Doctor you would eat better, get some exercise and work on your weight and you haven't quite got around to that yet - news flash - you are NOT trying

If you were prescribed medication and you don't take it as prescribed, on time all the time without excuse - again, NOT trying

If despite your best efforts and… read more

Can Type 2 Diabetes Be Managed Or Put Into Remission "Without Medication"?

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question đź’
Inverary, ON

At least once a week the question seems to come up, often from a newly diagnosed member

They may have heard diabetes could be reversed or they are asking if they should take this prescribed med the Doctor wrote a script for because they googled the side effects and the stuff sounds like poison and asking if it's safe

I'm not a Doctor or health professional so I am not prevented with sharing my opinion which does Not take into effect how you might feel about the information

So lets start with… read more

Is There A “Part-Time” Diabetes Diet That Will Keep You Off Meds?

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question đź’
Inverary, ON

I haven’t written about anything for a while now – This is me dipping my toes in the water again.

Anyhow, sometime in the past couple weeks I read a post from a new member looking for diet advice. BUT, they didn’t want to talk to “carb counters”, they wanted a diet you could follow when you felt like it AND would keep you off meds.

That has played in my thoughts for better than a week.

Certainly, since Diabetes has been “known” for close to 5000 years “someone” in that time would have… read more

How Worried Are You About Side Effects?

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question đź’
Inverary, ON

The questions about side effects of prescribed drugs are valid

Any time you put a foreign substance in your body there is likely to be some "side effect", sometimes none noticeable, sometimes minor or fleeting and sometimes downright nasty

BUT don't forget WHY the Doctor is even considering prescribing that Nasty-Dangerous Medication

Specifically when talking about Diabetic Medications too many come in with the (apparent) attitude that they have some OTHER Choice

Of course you have the… read more

Are The Drugs We Take SAFE?

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question đź’
Inverary, ON

I was working on a different topic when I read a comment that led me to this subject.

The simple answer is emphatically NO – NO Drug is safe to take – They are a foreign substance that doesn’t belong there.

Some are “safer” then others but any time you put something in your body that “doesn’t belong” you are taking some time and/or quality from your life.

So why then do we take any meds?

The simple answer is to lengthen our lives or improve the quality of what we have left.

Hang on, you… read more
