Hi Positive Outlook

I think that's a very relevant question affecting many of us.

In many cases, the "ideal diet" elude many of us due to availability and cost. This means that the food choices are limited.

So, I simplified the problem by avoiding the greatest enemies, i.e. take aways, sodas, processed foods/high fat content meats and high sugar cakes/sweets. The rest I eat. But to make this feasible in terms of my diabetes condition, I have to keep physically busy. Otherwise, it will not work.

Hope you will find a great workable solution for you.

Wishing you a joyful day!

@A DiabetesTeam Member Knowing what I can and can't eat has gotten easier for me. I use a free app Fatsecret and every morning I plan and enter all of my meals/snacks for that day into the app. The app calculates and records my daily calories, carbs, etc.....otherwise I couldn't keep track of it myself. While it does take time, to do it all, at one "sitting"; it does prevent me from having to think about it all day long and also avoids unexpected "oops!"

Also, like @A DiabetesTeam Member, I have a few basic, low-carb breakfasts that I rely on, that take NO thought or planning. And I am also in the process of establishing a basic low-carb dinner that takes NO thought or planning. That leaves me with having to think about only one meal a day-my big meal that I eat mid-day. Good luck-this is just what has helped me.

Hi there I too get tired of any kind of meal planning since I have one daughter who is vegan the other loves her meat like her dad and me being the diabetic in my family with other health issues well lets just say its not easy n making a vegan, diabetic friendly meal for all well my hubby can be fussy at times so that doesnt always work out so regardless im always stuck in making two main meals one vegan and one meat one and for myself I leave for last and will eat whatever i got on hand like boiled eggs with raw vegies or if its planned i can make myself a salad n do all the calcuations for each ingredient later or ahead of time but it seems like i really dont care what I eat anymore as long as its relatively healthy quick and easy so that I can eat with the rest of the family or else I would have to make three diff meals so lets just say I wont have enough stove top room to do that....heck with it.

I always have cooked meat measured out in the freezer as well prior from cooked fish, chicken, beef ground, roast and strips and now some pork which I only l started eating again pork that is since i hadnt eaten it for a few years nor do I eat shell fish.
I keep things simple now where its easier to figure out especially if you are carb counting and weighing everything like I do. Having vegies cut up n marked does help and getting a variety of diff proteins should also help to satisfy plus I do enjoy searching on Pinterest and looking for diff recipes to try that dont cost a bundle or has any strange ingredients that I know I cant get here. I do get fed up at times where I will have just open a can of tuna in water with crackers and some vegies on the side and thats my supper. Things happen and we dont always have time to start food prepping and cooking since us diabetics have to be deligent when it comes to our times of eating at least I do.

Not sure if I helped you at all but dont be too hard on yourself either its not worth the stress and heartache. You seem to be doing very well with your blood sugars so whatever you are doing there KEEP IT UP!🥰
