How Do I Keep My Bs From Dropping Down To 68? I'm So Confused With What I Can And Can't Eat. I'm Disgusted I Have Type 2 Diabetes
@A DiabetesTeam Member
Do you know your current A1C? Sounds like you may be in remission, why I think you should talk to your doctor about these hypos you're having. Thank you for replying.
Yes, I'm with @A DiabetesTeam Member need more information. Could be medication adjustment is needed, if happening during sleep, you could try eating a protein snack at bedtime. You really need to talk to your doctor about this, and always keep a fast-acting carb on hand, to treat those hypos. Keep us posted, your friends @A DiabetesTeam Member❤️
I'm currently not on any meds with my type 2.
Need a little more information
Is this drug induced (slight overdose that the Doc can adjust)
When does this happen? overnight, before you eat, randomly during the day?
68 is a "little low" and 4oz of Real Juice would bring it back up nicely if the number shows up unexplained but hard to advise based on what you have posted
I regularly drop as low as the high 50's overnight and my system recovers on it's own because it's not drug induced - sometimes our metabolism does funky things - for "me" that is normal so I don't panic and I don't (treat) eat to bring it back up
If it happened randomly say between meals I would simply have a snack of about 15 carbs (that's why I save a couple "emergency cookies" for or a quick trip to the coffee shop for a rare chocolate donut) but most often, unless you are taking Insulin or Sulfonylurea class drugs, your own body will correct the problem - at any given time about 500 grams worth of glucose is stored in your muscles and another 100 grams is stored in the liver and your Brain will trigger a release of that stored sugar to prevent you dropping below 35 - the "super dangerous level"
Managing blood sugar levels can be challenging, but there are several strategies you can use to prevent your blood sugar from dropping too low:
1. Monitor Blood Sugar Regularly
- Check your blood glucose levels as advised by your doctor. For type 2 diabetes, this might include checking before meals, two hours after Show Full Answer
