I take magnesium every day, the kind i take is without starch in the ingredients. I am doing keto diet and magnesium helps with cramping after workouts or in general, if not drinking enough water, through out the day . its a good thing to take everyday.

Hi @A DiabetesTeam Member and all you warriors.

What are the benefits of magnesium for diabetics.
------------------------------
Magnesium can have several benefits for people with diabetes, including:
Improved insulin sensitivity: Magnesium can improve insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism.

Reduced risk of cardiovascular disease: Magnesium can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, a major complication of diabetes.

Lower blood pressure: Magnesium can help lower blood pressure.
Reduced inflammation: Magnesium can help reduce inflammation.

Reduced risk of developing diabetes: Higher magnesium intake may be associated with a lower risk of developing diabetes.

Other benefits of magnesium include:
Maintaining bone strength
Preventing migraine episodes
Improving exercise performance
Reducing depression, anxiety, and stress
Decreasing the frequency of migraine attacks
Easing premenstrual syndrome

Magnesium is a cofactor of enzymatic pathways that plays a key role in many metabolisms. About 30% of diabetic patients have hypomagnesemia.

You can get magnesium from tap water, mineral water, and bottled water, but levels can vary. A total serum magnesium blood test can diagnose a magnesium deficiency. Signs of a deficiency include: loss of appetite, nausea, muscle cramps, and fatigue.
------------------------------

Recommended amounts for magnesium glycinate for diabetics range from 250mg to 600mg. 200mg to 400mg seems to be a good theraputic dosage for diabetics.

Good luck.
