What Is Being Done About The Stigma Around Diabetes?

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭
Inverary, ON

I was reading an article in Diabetes Care Community (a Canadian Organization) and they were talking about the stigma most diabetics face from the general population

They define Diabetes Stigma as:

Stigma arises out of the attitudes, beliefs and assumptions made about those with diabetes by people without diabetes that are part of societal norms.

Stigma arises from the biases that people have toward diabetes. Such biases are sometimes explicit, as in the title above, where the person assumes… read more

Prescribed Lagevrio Instead Of Paxlovid Due To Medication Interaction? Is It As Good As Paxlovid?

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭
New York, NY

Since Paxlovid interferes with many of my medications like lipitor, the doctor recommended Lagevrio as I would be able to stay on all medications. Also given something for the cough as Musinex was doing nothing.

Anyone else got Covid and given Lagevrio instead of Paxlovid?

How did it go?

A DiabetesTeam Member

As with any medications, you can discuss with your pharmacist. Doctors diagnose and often follow protocols of medications to prescribe. A Pharmicist knows medications much better then doctors, it is… read more

How can we slow the digestion of carbs and lower the post meal glucose spike.

Some tricks to slow the absorption of carbs in pasta, rice, potatoes.

Has Anyone Seen The Headline "Ozempic Linked With A Blinding Eye Condition"??

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭
Inverary, ON

If anyone is taking a GLP-1 class drug which includes Ozempic, Rybelsus, Mounjaro or some of the older ones like Victoza this headline may sound a little scary

It is based on a study done at Harvard Med and just published in the Journal of American Medicine (JAMA) so that means to start, this is not just a headline from someone sitting in a basement wearing a tinfoil hat - it's a "reliable source"

But what the headlines are not going to say is how they came about that statement

Here's what… read more
