Does Anyone Suffer From Neuropathic Pain? Did It Start Suddenly?and What Treatments Worked For You?

I got a sudden pain in my achille tendon and now for the last 2 days suffer from pain in my heel which feels like neuropathic pain. I am scared that this pain will remain and never go away. Can you please share your story if you have experience the same?

I get some neuropathy sometimes, in particular, if I am not keeping myself active. It is not overly bad for me yet and hopefully, I will be able to keep it at bay. Usually just the pins and needles variety in my feet or calves. Or if I decide to have a treat that was just too much sugar for me, my face all around my nose will go numb. The best thing I can do when it happens is to get moving. Exercise is very important n the treatment of neuropathy. You may not feel up to doing it when you feel the pain, but it is not going to get better without it. Half an hour a day, at least, every day. A brisk walk is really the easiest. In addition, the very best exercise to stave of neuropathy is to do resistance and balance exercises. You can get a set of bands for about 15 dollars at your local sporting goods store. You can youtube beginner exercises, they last about ten minutes and are really quite simple. These should be done every other day.

I get this to. I'm a type 2 diabetic. I find when I've been out and about walking, that when I get back home, my legs & feet are in more pain and seem to get worse. I seem to be stuck in between the two, if I do exercise I get the pain, if I don't do the exercise I get the pain!!!! :-( I have found that if I elevate my leg high above my head all the pain goes away, just means spending about 30 minutes flat on my back once a day.

Sorry to hear about the bad side effects you have from these drugs. Perhaps your doctor can prescribe another medication for you to try. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have Gabapentin...I never knew Neuropathy can be so debilitating. Sending you good thoughts, and I hope you have a great day.

I too had the pain start in the achille's region and just thought it was a strain or something. I put up with the pain, burning, pins and needles, waking up from it on/off during the night or unable to go to sleep because of it. Occasionally I would cry and also looked for cold floors to cool my feet down. Even after I was diagnosed with diabetes I still did not put 2 and 2 together. I mentioned it to my Doctor one day and she wrote me a prescription for [[treatment:Lyrica:5612d1ab6bcd61c[[phone:410000517]] 75:]] mg and if that is not enough then I can take another one, which I have had to do only a few times. Hope this information helps you Carole.

Hi, was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes almost 3 years ago, at the same time I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung and kidney cancer. I also suffer from the pins and needles feeling in my feet, especially at night. I take bit B6 for it and if it is really bad, I will put my feet in a bowl of cold water for a while
