I'm not understanding the 5.4 glucose when testing. Is that the A1C? My machine reading is 100's. Is there different machines to get those small readings?
Is that the result from dr or what?? If it's reading, like what you get on you meter, it's measured in mg/dl and other countries its measured in mmol - example 4.4 mmol is about 80 mg/dl
Or if dr does blood test and you get a 6.5 would mean your blood sugar averaged about 140 (A1C)
Barbara, here in US it's A1C. (Measured in mgdl). In other countries, like England, blood sugars are measured in mmol/l, like 3.9 mmol which is about 70 mgdl
A conversion "chart" can be found online.
That is your A1C . Your numbers that you get from your meter is what your blood sugar is at that time. The A 1C is a totally different reading of your look sugar on average is running the last 3 months
Glucometer readings reflect your blood sugar state at that moment. HgbA1c averages out your blood glucose over the previous 3 months.
That is your A1C
