Watch for a depletion of B12 that will cause fatigue. Metformin does this. I take B12 pills.

You need a carb book, I have 'Carbs&Cals Calorie and Carbohydrate counter (ISBN 978-1-9082611-5-1) which has been really helpful because it shows portion size as well.

Had severe diarrhoea on standard Metformin. Then put on full dose, 2gm of Slow Release but had same effect. Then taken off of Metformin and put on Gliclazide. Db went haywire. Then put back on Metformin SR but introduced in stages and everything is now fine apart from the rapid weight gain and bloating which Metformin is known for. This has to be in context though because it causes this being an effective drug in helping the body convert glucose. A strict (ish) diet of 140gm of carbs a day seems to just about balance it out.
Not ideal but this is an illness and requires appropriate management.
I have also just found out from my consultant that HYPOTHYROIDISM can have a severe effect on Db if not properly addressed and controlled. My Thyroxine was reduced by 50mgm and my Db went haywire. It shows that not just the Db but all underlying disorders require a combined plan of address.
