Members agreed that unexplained weight loss in diabetes warrants urgent medical attention, explaining that uncontrolled blood sugar prevents the body from using glucose for energy, potentially leading to muscle and fat loss as the body seeks alternative fuel sources. Several members emphasized the critical importance of taking prescribed medications as directed, eating regular balanced meals with snacks throughout the day, staying hydrated with adequate water intake, and incorporating exercise to help manage blood sugar levels effectively. A recurring theme was that diabetes affects everyone differently, and working closely with a doctor to find the right treatment plan is essential for both managing symptoms and protecting vital organs like the kidneys from long-term damage.

MJT10 is right...as long as you don't take care of yourself and don't take your meds or insulin (if you're taking it) you will continue losing weight. As soon as you do and eat right and you MUST eat every meal AND your snacks....Breakfast,morning snack. Lunch, afternoon snack. Supper and maybe a smaller snack. Make sure you drink your 8 glasses of 8oz (64 oz) daily

I'm not sure about your description of what occurs with muscle and fat, but it sounds as if you should contact a physician for some guidance in this instance.

This is my understanding: diabetes can impair insulin from bringing carbohydrates into the cells. The cells do not have the energy. so the body starts consuming muscle mass and body fats.
