It depends. We're all different in how many carbs our bodies can handle. When I started, I think I was eating about 135-maybe 150 a day. ADA says for women, 35 per meal and 15 for snacks. Most of us find this to be to high. At 90 a day, I am able to lose weight (painfully slowly). I have also gained excellent control. At 6 or under for a whole year. Don't drink your carbs. Read the labels on whatever you buy. It's eye opening.

@A DiabetesTeam Member It also helps to look at the carb counts on everything you buy. Look at the serving size and the carb count is usually per serving. You can also get apps on your phone that help you keep track of how many carbs you're consuming and how many carbs are in different foods (i.e. meats, veggies, fruits) that aren't labeled. The idea is to get your carbs from the most nutritious source; real foods as opposed to processed foods.
