What Is The Normal Amount Of Carbs To Be Consumed Per Meal For The Average-sized Woman/person?

I read things like the ADA or Diabetic Living Magazine and they say about 35-40 grams of carbs per meal is acceptable, and the recipes in the magazine too. I am too scared to consume anything near that for fear my blood sugar will go thru the roof even with my meds!! What are your thoughts??

@A DiabetesTeam Member, my dietician suggest 35 gms per meal and i have found that is an acceptable level for me, only once I tried a recipe out of a diabetic book, that suggested half a cup of baked beans, and a sluce of whole grain toast for lunch and my bs shot up to 24.4,scared the bejesus out of me, every body is different, it is trial and error, you have to try new things, take your readings before, and 2hrs after and you will know wether you are on the right track. Hope thst helps

I have had diabetes for 26 years. Carbs are necessary for energy. Try the recommended amount and see. You might be surprised. Good luck!
