A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I think I see that if I get angry or worked up I sometimes see an increase in numbers? Is there any scientific evidence.

A type 1 friend told me "Diabetes affects everything and everything affects diabetes"

I do not have any specific studies, but it seems well accepted that stress (being angry is a stress) effects the hormones that can raise blood sugar.

I tend to binge when I am stressed, or bored, or sad. I was never accused of having bulimia...but what I use could knock my sugars out of whack... And in large quantities. Part of the program now is to learn new skills for dealing with the ups and downs of life... Some hit the bottle, some hit pharmaceuticals... I raid the refrigerator... and then the corner store...None of the above are healthy solutions.

I agree with you about the levels increasing the anger and inablility to handle stuff. It is always a sign for me that I need to eat something, when I feel I can't handle things.

I don't know about scientific evidence but sure there is a connection. I do wonder if levels increasing causes spurts of anger or vice versa
