@A DiabetesTeam Member Protein in your urine is an indication that something is going wrong with the kidneys. Diabetes is one medical condition that can cause kidney damage that leads to protein in the urine.

My Dr was concerned because there was protein in my urine when I was first diagnosed. Once I got my blood sugar under control, the kidneys healed and the protein went away.

In 2012 I had a 9mm kidney stone and both my kidneys were failing me. The doctors up here wanted me to have it normally but my doctor at the time said no. She sent me to a bigger hospital and I had it lasered and since then I have CKD. This weekend I am going out of town to have a Renal scan because my kidney function is up and down and he is thinking one of my renal arteries is not wide enough? and they might have to put a stint in it rather than doing surgery.
