Don’t quit your diabetic meds without speaking to your doctor first. It maybe as simple as getting you on an extended release med some tolerate extended release forms or metformin yo help prevent side effects!!!!

There are other meds, and usually the manufacturer has some type of program to help. Talk to your dr and go from there

Sure. Control it with diet that's what I've done. I follow a LCHF diet with intermediate fasting and I've never taken meds. Of course if you take meds and change your diet you risk a life threatening condition called ketoacidosis. Since I've never taken diabetes meds, I haven't had any risk of it. My BGs are in normal range, A1C is 5.4, lost 36 lbs so far and hope to reverse diabetes. The problem for some people with this diet is that you have to learn to make your own foods. Most prepared and fast foods are too high in carbs. Need to stay under 20 grams of carbs a day, no bread, sugar, starchy veggies like potatoes, pasta, grains, beans, although some people can eat some grain and beans without spiking BG. I'm not one of those folks. Good fats like coconut oil, olive oil and butter are actually good for you. By all means restrict diet foods and sodas. The artificial sweeteners cause cravings and weight gain. Good luck!

Write a letter or email to the company that makes your meds. Explain your situation. Most all pharmacological companies have programs to provide patients with free or reduced price meds. (Your doc should know)
