I Have Been A Diabetic For 20+years. What Things Other Than Counting Carbs And Managing Sugars Should Be Done.
It seems there are more things I should be doing but I do not know what they are.
I suggest you walk or exercise 15-30 minutes twice or more daily and drink 3-16 ozs bottles of water daily, take your medication and check your numbers twice daily.
Blessings to all! 😊
I don't need to count carbs. In 2011 I corrected my diet and mostly eat meat/veg with a smattering of high fat plain yogurt and fruit. My T2 diabetes was resolved in 3 days. Humans should not be eating grains, sugars, industrial seed oils (canola, corn). If you hear anyone say that whole grains are low glycemic - ask them about amylopectin A - it spikes blood sugar HIGHER than a chocolate bar in the majority of people. I have been eating a corrected (primal) diet for 7 years. I resolved 12 health issues - only using food. Plus I was able to stop all 4 prescription medications. I am a young 57 years old and in charge - no health issues - all at the hands of consuming an diet that is closer to what my genes developed to required. Fat is the preferred fuel source for the body, and carbs are NOT required - I always follow that up with the fact that most veg has carbs - and bring them on! I roast a conglomeration of 11-12 different veg every 3 weeks and I have an awesome addition to my meat of the day.
Drink 16 ozs of water between meals and exercise /walk 3 times daily for 15-30 minutes, take your medication /s as directed by your doctor and space your meals apart 5 -6 hours with drinking water. I eat a large meal at noon and a light dinner one hour before bed. I drink lots of water to stay full. I check my numbers twice daily and record them. Eat a small fresh small apple or small orange with all meals. Eat 1/4 cup vegetables twice daily and 1/2 cup low fat milk.
Blessings to you all.
I've been diabetic almost 30 years. You probably have already learned to stay away from sugars (and all other sweetners - except Stevia) and high-carb foods like pasta, potatoes (well occasionally anyway), etc. Counting carbs, for me, isn't really all that beneficial unless my A1C is excessive. Iola, above, mentions exercise and though I don't often practice what I preach, it is necessary.
Drinking 4 bottles of water daily and exercise like walking 2-3 times daily for 30 minutes or more. I suggest you eat 1 ounce of meats, 1/2 cup plain oatmeal, 1/2 cup vegetables, a small apple or orange and 1/2 cup unsalted mixed nuts, 1/2 cup low fat milk or low fat cheese.
I avoid sausage, bacon, croissants, white bread, white potatoes, white rice, french fries, pastries, cakes, cookies, candies and pies. I eat 1-2 boiled eggs not fried.
Blessings to you and your family! 😊
