I have ketoacidosis it's where my sugar is very high it be over 300 hundred. I'm taking Novalog and Levimir, I don't feel like it's helping me some days my sugar be at 120 and some days I'm stuck at 290 and I check my sugar more than 4 times a day. Why is it still so high? I've been eating right no starch, pasta or bread. I take in the right amount of calories and nothing I do helps me! I have lost so much weight I'm just stuck☹️ is there and advice? Help me please

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a serious complication that can occur when blood glucose levels are extremely high. Here are some key points about DKA from the knowledge base:

- Cause: It happens when insulin levels are too low, preventing cells from using sugar for energy. The body starts breaking down fat, releasing ketones, which can accumulate to dangerous levels.
- Symptoms:
- Excess urination
- Dry mouth and dry skin
- Confusion
- Shortness of breath
- Fruity-smelling breath
- Breathing: The body may try to compensate by breathing out carbon dioxide and ketones, leading to Kussmaul breathing (rapid or labored breathing).
- Treatment: Immediate medical attention is required. Treatment typically involves IV insulin and fluids to bring blood sugar levels under control.

I just found out I have diabetes on May 25 2019 so I am new to this. my blood sugar level was 500 when I found out. I am on levemir which is insulin. I use the epi pen 10 units injections in the belly. which I donot feel. it has made a big different for me. I could not take the Metformin. I keep my blood sugar levels at around 110 to 140 which my doctor said is alright. I check my sugar 3 times a day as requested by my doctor. I check my levels about three hours after I eat. Mine really does not go up much at all. I eat a good diet and work in my yard and swim. This seems to be working for me. But if I donot eat during the day while I am working outside it will go up to the 200s. I read this can happen. so I try to eat something and it gets better. hope things get better soon for you. Give me a shout out sometime and let me know how you are doing.

Make sure your checking your sugar levels at the right time. After you eat wait at least 2 hours. It was a mistake I was making always when I was eating right. I would eat and check after 35 minutes to an hour
