Is My Sugar To Low

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭
Peoria, AZ

Hi everybody I haven't been on here for a while but I do have a question it seems lately my sugar has been dropping like 89 92 in our area and when it does I'm feeling very very tired dizzy blurred vision like it's too low. Does anybody else get this?

You're experiencing a faux low. This happens when your blood sugar drops to a normal range after running consistently high. Your body responds to this change as if it’s in real hypoglycemia (below 70 mg/dl). When I first started doing a low carb to reverse type 2 diabetes, I would get hypoglycemic faintness too.

I've had it a few times but I just have a sugary drink and I'm right as rain again. ALWAYS carry a sugary drink with u as liquids act instantly!

Below 72 (4.0) is what most would consider "low".

My Fasting Numbers (FBS) average for the past week is 92 (5.1) - those are "normal" numbers, as in, someone without diabetes would see those numbers "all the time".

Now if your numbers have been "high" for a while and you have recently brought them DOWN to "normal", that could leave you feeling like you are experiencing an (actual) low, because you kinda are - you might be "used to" high sugars so "normal" feels low (hope that isn't too confusing).
