Diabetes Pumps

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

Good morning to my Diabetes family. What a journey this is. I know my next visit I will be put on meal time insulin. I need to be educated on the types of pumps out there. Is there one that allows no needle sticks? One that reads my bs and dispenses insulin?

I Googled insulin pumps and there are quite a variety. I got lost in the information. Can anyone help?

Thank you for being here. God bless you all.

Hello, again! I just read about the MiniMed 770G insulin pump system. Good reviews.

Hello! I have heard of Omnipod DASH and Medtronics. They wound pretty easy to use. Please do talk to your doctor before choosing.

No experience myself either but I do work with a Wellness Group that goes out and talks to small groups of Diabetics and just before all the Covid mess started (and mostly shut us down) the Pharmacist (that works with us) was talking about (and had samples of) a "Pod" that attaches kinda like the stick on sugar monitors (to me it looks quite a bit like the Dexcom system).

The product was called "Omipod".

What I remember of his spiel on it is that it is prefilled with the insulin, you "stick it on", it has about 3 days supply and you can either program it with its own meter (?) or control it with an App on your phone.

And it just does it's thing - sticks on your lower belly (same location where insulin injections are typically done) and just swap in a "stick on new one" every three days.

So maybe google it and check it out - I'm certain they probably have a website with all the details.
