Why Do You Need To Be Brutally Honest With Yourself And Your Doctor About Diabetes?
Well, time for the Friday Evening Post 😀
I sometimes see a post where the author says "The Doctor Will Be Disappointed With My Numbers".
My first thought always is, why aren't YOU disappointed with your numbers? If you believe your Doctor will be upset it must be because you have probably "quite significantly" missed your target.
How does that happen?
While it could be because you have simply progressed (there is never a warning), or another disease may have impacted your numbers - ditto… read more
Yes, the doc must be your coach. And if your not performing well, the coach needs a kick ass lecture to inspire you to do what is expected.
My doctor knows less about diabetes than I do, almost a year into my journey, but I keep educating her and she is learning from me and her sparked interest now.
I keep educating all my specialists about the impact of diabetes on each of the medical issues I deal with daily. l am pleased to say that my diabetes approach and regimen has had positive impact on liver function, heart disease, high triglycerides, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, very high A1C (13.5), kidney issues, psoriasis, other skin issues, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lyme's disease, and Asthma, cognitive accuity, memory, Parkinson's, and even Stage 4 prostate cancer treatments, because of better self care, supplements, more rest, more sleep and more self care.
I will treat each medical issue to the best of my ability, with the fewest prescription medications necessary. I will not neglect necessary treatments.
I will have more good days than bad and have many exceptional days too. I will enjoy my life on my terms. I will rejoice in both the good times and the not so good. I will control my diabetes journey and won't let diabetes control me. I will keep up the good fight.
I will never give up, never surrender, never ever.
You got this.
Have a blessed day.
Your doctor and you are a Team and you must both be honest with each other and work together
Moving to a new state and no longer working in a hospital where recommendations can be obtained, i was really leery in choosing a new doctor. I had had bad experiences with previous physicians. My Internist is absolutely wonderful and I was really open to whatever he had to say. I also went into the first appointment and subsequent ones, with a list of things that had happened I was concerned about for us to review. I also had gone thru my Medicare book and selected all of the free screenings and sorted them by applies, not an issue and not sure. I also listed the shots available and he determined which ones I needed. After the first appointment he hooked me up with a nutritionist to deal with my 11.3 A1C. My December stat was 8.5 and that was while having severe depression diring that time. We have a goal of into the 7s by my late March visit.
A great rapport with your physician is essential. Also the system that is set up that I’m a part of, MyCharts, and I often get results on thbe way home with my doctor’s comments. I can email him with a question and he gets back within a day.
After my first visit I had a lot of questions that I forgot to ask, etc. he answered every single one of them for me. Je also appreciated having a written list of health issues that occured between visits. I am so blessed!!!
good question. And you need to be honest with yourself and your doctor to both be on same page
