Diabetes And Nail Salons
Any concerns about having cuticle care done on fingernails or a foot massage due to neuropathy (no nail care on feet, podiatrist to handle that)?
I’m making a list of rewards for my Sunday rest day when I have a good week of food and exercise plan execution. Didin’t know if there were any issues to be discussed with nail tech.
I have issues with my nails being brittle with ridges and am taking different vits and I also read if I`m remembering correctly about having thyroid disease can also cause brittle nails but not sure if the vits are helping I think they are since now they can grow a bit without cracking.
Ordinary nail places won't treat diabetic patients here.Have to go " professional".
Podiatrist used to visit every four months until he retired no replacement.thankfully I can now do my own toenails( not most wonderful result).
I wouldn't have concerns if you can find a trustworthy shop.
In my fathers later years (diabetic for almost 30 years) my sister would take him to the place that did her nails to have them look after his toenails because She didn't feel comfortable trying to look after it herself (and he wasn't capable).
I'm the same way with my wife (who has Parkinson's and can't do her toe nails) - I'm too worried about over-cutting or whatever and causing pain (not that neuropathy is present in Parkinson's) - so I "leave it to the professionals".
I haven't had any problems with pedicures love to get them helps my feet from being so dry and rough.
