@A DiabetesTeam Member the term "small meals" can mean different things

Was this your doctor that advised this? and perhaps a few more details would help

I eat 4 "smaller" meals a day compared to 3 larger meals

I have a fixed number calories (2000) and a fixed number of carbs (<130/day) so if I ate 3 meals each meal would be close to 700 calories/43 carbs each

Since I eat 4 "smaller" meals they are 500 calories/25-30 carbs - so each meal is about 30% "smaller" than if I ate 3

All that really means for me is that I still eat the "same type of food" that I would otherwise, I just eat "less of" at each meal

Still have say cereal for breakfast, just less. Or I may have a couple scrambled eggs and a single slice of toast - smaller than 2 scrambled with 2 toast and some sausage or bacon

For lunch I typically eat a sandwich with essentially "nothing else"

As an example of today's supper (4'ish PM meal for me) I had three scoops of Chilli - if I was only eating three meals a day it would have likely been 5 scoops - again, just "smaller" but not "different" and in the case of today when I eat my 4th meal (between 8 and 9 pm) I will eat those other two scoops with a slice of bread - so mostly split "supper" over two meals

Same food, smaller quantity "each meal", just split up over 4 instead of 3

If I was eating "smaller" because I was trying to lose weight - then again, everything the same, but just smaller "portion sizes" of exactly the same food.

You don't have to eat "special food" - just less of whatever you would typically eat
