I Could Use Some Suggestions
For most of the past dozen years I have been working actively in the local diabetes community and for the past half dozen years I have been one of the presenters for a wellness group that primarily focuses on Metabolic Syndrome with Type 2 being the "biggie" under that umbrella
Last year we expanded our mandate to include a weight loss/management program for those that are carrying a bit of extra weight but have not "yet" developed a metabolic disorder and want to do something "now" to prevent⦠read more
Take a look at Fatsecret App. It's free too. I haven't used the app, but I have found the website hugely useful for nutritional information on everything, even brands specific to my country.
Graham I have lost over 6kg and reversed my Diabetes type2 by eating 3 healthy meals a day and less fattening snacks between meals like chips and dips and I have been walking more often and further too and I have lost 3 clothes sizes.
Also my meals are filling and nutritious with lots of vegetables and fruit plus low fat fruit no sugar yoghurt and stewed apples with sultanas and cinnamon which I have on my oat clusters with milk for breakfast.
For lunch I enjoy thin rice cakes with cream cheese spread and sliced chicken breast or ham with coleslaw and lettuce leaves plus sliced Continental cucumber and garlic Aioli.
Dinner several nights a week are one pan stir fried meat and lots of π½ vegetables π and steamed vegetables- potato, sweet potato and carrots plus steamed cabbage and broccoli π₯¦.
Also I usually cook a batch of chicken drumsticks stew with chunky vegetables and seasoning in the slow cooker. I try to vary my meals. My recent blood count shows that all my organs are functioning well too and I have reversed the Vitamin B12 deficiency during the past year too.
Walking exercise is the key for health and vitality! 3 to 5 k is a nice day of exercise!

@A DiabetesTeam Member I've been using Fatsecret because it is free and available on my laptop. I have been stubbornly holding out and don't want or need a smart phone (yet). (When I travel I will.) It's fairly easy and I track sodium, fat, sugar, (net) carbs, protein and calories. Can't recal what else you can choose from-but it only allows you to choose 6 categlories to track. (I would like to track potassium also but it's not there). They do give you a pie chart each day, that shows you the % of fats, proteins and carbs eaten. I find it handy to start each day by logging my weight there (it also tracks that) and record what I ate for breakfast and plan to eat for lunch and dinner and snacks as well, while drinking my morning coffee. I find this way my goal for calories is decided early each day, so there are less chances for unintentional blunders. Planning what I will eat every morning has helped me immensely. It also gives me the opportunity to adjust my "columns" if necessary, to add or subtract where needed. Since I am retired (and pretty determined) I can take the time to use the fastsecret app this way. But if I were still working I'm not sure I would have the energy and time to do such tracking. So far the fatsecret has worked well for me, but I've never used anything else to compare it with. Good luck with your endeavor-since its free you can take a look yourself. Also, I don't know if it's available on smart phones.
One criticism is that when I wanted to change my daily caloric intake recently, (from 1500 to 1200) it was not easy and made me start all over again. I now have 1200 but want 1500 again, but don't want to hassle with starting over again. So I just mentally track that.
If you have access to the Google Play Store or whatever the Apple app store is online you can get them
I would be interested in any apps as well. Iβm also technically challenged
