Members reflected on the essential diabetes lessons they're carrying into 2024, with overwhelming agreement that vigilance, consistent self-care, and never giving up are necessary to manage the condition effectively. Several members shared practical strategies including regular exercise (walking, swimming, Pilates), following low-carb or plant-based diets, drinking plenty of water, keeping food journals, monitoring blood sugar with devices like Freestyle Libre, and maintaining critical screenings for feet, eyes, and heart health. A recurring theme was the importance of learning from both personal mistakes and others' experiences, staying focused despite exhaustion or setbacks, prioritizing self-care without guilt, and remembering that diabetes management is a lifelong commitment rather than a temporary resolution.

4 M s.
1. Medication, Take your dose.
2. Meals. Not low fat - that's old school. Combine protein, good fats and lots of veggies
3. Movement; Exercise but clever. Body by Science, 5 exercises, 45 to 90 seconds strips blood sugar out of muscels the biggest store of blood sugar and takes 7 days to replenish.
4 Mindfulness. Eating or exercising focus on what you are doing. Exercising - slow movements, Eating - focus on first veggies, the protein then the cabs. Chew slowly. This is what is adding to your overall approach to dealing with your condition.
Works for me. Hope it works for you.
