Hi Guys. Just A Quick Question. Do You Think For Diabetic Type 2 , It's Possible That Glucose Level Could Be From 5 Down To 3.4.
If you are asking could it "drop" from 5 down to 3.4, yes, it could do that in minutes
3.4 would be considered a "hypo" or simply a low and at 3.4 you would typically take some action (drink juice, take a glucose tablet) to try and get it back over 4.0
If you are asking could this be a "typical range" - if it was, then you would be quite overmedicated
A healthy range is 4.0 to 7.8
Lows are just as bad as highs for causing damage to your cardiovascular system - particularly the heart, so you don't want to be running too far below 4.0 for very long
@A DiabetesTeam Member that is likely not a Diabetes or a Metformin issue
Metformin doesn't cause blood sugar to "drop" but it does stop the Liver from releasing sugar - splitting hairs but it shouldn't "just drop"
There is very few things (aside from insulin) that drop blood sugar but a hormone imbalance (unique to females) could be the cause
If your levels of Progesterone and/or Estrogen are changing they can cause "lows" and can be treated with HRT (hormone replacement therapy)
Whatever the cause, you should really get this checked out with your Doctor
High Blood Sugar kills us a few years in the future - Low Blood Sugar can kill us in our sleep "tonight" so you need to get to the bottom of what is causing it
What diabetes medication are you doing. Be detailed.
I can support that.Taking oestrogen destroying tablet for breast cancer- my glucose levels drop almost instantaneously ,with hypo symptoms showing from 5/90
It actually fluctuate from 5.8 downwards. It's never above 6.
