Are you taking the metformin with meals @A DiabetesTeam Member.

Are you taking metformin XL, extended release, it is easier on the stomach. The GI issues usually last a couple of weeks.

And anytime the dosage is increased you can expect another couple of weeks.

Other than initial GI issues it is one of the safest diabetes medications out there, with a more than 50 years track record.
