My father was 1 of 12 and he and at least 8 of his siblings developed Type 2 by their 50s or 60s. Their father also developed Type 2 by his 50s. My sister & I both developed it me at 50, she in her 60s. Several of my cousins also developed it, also.

Both my parents were type 2 and passed 30 years ago.
I am the oldest of 8. All were diagnosed diabetic 10-20 years before me. 3 of my siblings are gone.

I was diagnosed February 2021, A1C 13.5. It wasn't a matter of if, but when I would be diagnosed.

My diabetes diagnosis and what I have done in response to it has saved my life. 2 hearts operations have repaired my heart. My liver function has improved. My kidney function has improved.

My chronic Lyme's disease has arrested. My Parkinson's has slowed to a crawl. COPD and asthma is controlled with no daily maintenance medications, and I still have a rescue inhaler of needed.

My chonic pain has lessened from a 8+ to a 7. My RA has stopped progression. Psoriasis and eczema is much improved. My glaucoma has abated and no longer use eyedrops.

I'm currently in my 9th cancer treatment in 6.5 years. It keeps metastisizing. It doesn't seem to know that we got this.
