How Much Salt Intake A Person Should Have?
As Diabetics even going with the RDA (recommended daily allowance) might be too much for us
Diabetes is already hard on our vascular systems and sodium could make it far worse and like Sugar, Salt is "everywhere" in any food that is even moderately processed (just check a can of beans or the like)
My Dietitian suggested no more than 1500mg/day some years back - don't know if it was based on actual scientific advice or just her, but it sounded reasonable and I do try to keep my salt intake down
Lot's of "low sodium" products out there and I don't keep salt or sugar anywhere in the house just to "resist temptation" 😃
@A DiabetesTeam Member You can google "nutrition for diabetes" and find a lot of sites.
@A DiabetesTeam Member If you want to lower your sodium intake you can find some "low and NO-added sodium" products on the shelves. (beans and tomatoes) Also there is now low-sodium deli meat. The lowest cottage cheese I've found is "Good Culture". And home-cooked, non-processed foods is a good way to lower sodium intake overall.
Any Advise Or Suggestion For Low Sodium
