Are There Many “No Sugar Added Or Low Carb Alternatives” To The Food/condiments That We Consume?

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

There was a question about Peanut Butter that got me to thinking about the no sugar added/low carb products in my Pantry

Here’s a list of some of the things I have used or tried

Jam – Smuckers makes “no sugar added” Jams with 5 carbs (natural fructose from the berries) compared to the 13 carbs in the sweetened stuff

Smuckers also makes Sugar Free Pancake Syrup (awesome) at 4 carbs or Mrs Butterworth Sugar Free also at 4 carbs compared to the “real stuff” at 27

Of course you need Pancakes for… read more

Members enthusiastically added to a comprehensive list of no-sugar-added and low-carb alternatives to common foods and condiments, with several sharing their favorite brands like G Hughes ketchup, Walden Farms syrups and dressings, Good Good jam, Choc Zero products, and Nut Pods creamer. Many members confirmed the original poster's observation that taste buds do adjust to these alternatives, with one member noting how regular ketchup now causes terrible blood sugar spikes after switching to the sugar-free version. A recurring theme was gratitude for the practical guidance and the reassurance that a wide variety of diabetes-friendly products exist once you start looking, making it easier to enjoy familiar foods without sacrificing blood sugar control.

I use a nut pods sugar free creamer with 0 carbs per T multiple flavors, cookie butter being my fave but caramel and cinnamon swirl are good too. Some you can add a packet of stevia or monk fruit. I use good good jam. It’s 5 g carbs( net carbs 1 or 2 ) I use Walden’s farm ketchup and syrup and salad dressing. I switched to avocado or olive oil mayo. Now if some company would come up with individual packets of sugar free ketchup I could carry with me, I’d be a happy girl😁 I use carba nada pasta for casseroles but spaghetti squash or palmini noodles for pasta with spaghetti. For chocolate I use choc zero. They carry syrups for coffee spreads, jams, plus more and my all time favorite nsa marshmallows. They can be roasted. Yum yum!! The best part no sugar alcohol. I unfortunately cannot use carb quik anymore due to gluten sensitivity. Almond or coconut flour are what I use.

I can add G Hughes for nsa ketchup and other condiments/sauces. But I can only speak for the ketchup. 5 calories and 1 gram of carb per Tbsp. It's very good. I am so used to using it when I went out to dinner with a friend .,I didn't think and poured regular ketchup all over my fries. It wasn't pretty afterwards with the horrible spike !! @A DiabetesTeam Member thank you for the other information. I'm going to have to try the syrup. 😊☺️
