Should I Get A Shingle Vaccine?
I'm a T2 with other health conditions. I have Peripheral Diabetic Neuropathy over 50 and had chicken pox as a child. Need side effects also.
I absolutely believe in vaccines for "anything"
I never had chickenpox and had a varicella test added to one of my annual blood tests to confirm so I "don't need" a Shingles vaccine because I don't have the cooties in my system that can cause it
But if I did I would have had it a few years back
As Diabetics our immune system will be somewhat compromised already - maybe a lot AND it takes us forever to heal AND while fighting an outbreak of just about anything our blood sugar tends to fly around the upper atmosphere during recovery and treatment
So unless you are allergic to ingredients or it would worsen an existing condition a vaccine always will provide far greater benefit and potential benefit then not getting it
I spent 21 years in the Airforce and was vaccinated for just about everything known to ever exist - I'm not afraid of the Jab
I am very afraid of some of the things that the disease that is being vaccinated against "will do"
And yes, it's a personal choice. But if you think Diabetes Sucks and don't think that having Shingles just to brighten up your Diabetic Day is something you want to experience, then get the shot unless it is "actually medically dangerous" for you to get it
What's the commercial?
Just like Diabetes - Shingles "doesn't care" and can make your life beyond miserable...
Get your vaccines. You do not want the illnesses that they prevent.
Ive never had the shingles vaccine but several years ago my boss at the time got it and my husband got the shingles as well back when I was still working it wasnt a severe case for either one but I never did end up getting it.
@A DiabetesTeam Member yes I get all of the vaccines and booster shots to protect myself too

Iām going to have my Shingles booster vaccine in July so I will be protected as a lady friend had Shingles in her mouth and throat and she was in awful pain
