My Dr. checks my thyroid every 3 months, there is a link between diabetes and thyroiditis, both are Endocrine disorders.

@ruthwolfson, @A DiabetesTeam Member.
My story runs parallel to ruth's.like you two I had GERD,had to stop the PPI because of kidney damage. At one time I was on the max allowed of sodium bicarbonate - all that did was given me symptoms of high sodium levels.Meds can cause your condition to worsen- even if prescribed with best intentions.

Lol, are you implying something? Deranged🤣🤣🤣 seriously though, is that why you were getting so many kidney stones, from the extra calcium?

I was diagnosed with Hashimotos 20 years ago. I was put on Synthroid whe. 1st diagnosed. Now I am not taking anything. I do get my levels checked yearly and an ultrasound on my goiter. I am Type1 so not sure if there is a connection or just dumb "luck" edited how many years ago diagnosed.

Two months @A DiabetesTeam Member after I gave birth to my first child in 1997 and 4 years after I have been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes back in 1993 I was told I have Hypothyroidism and not long after that high blood pressure and cholesterol as well and I was relatively healthy and eating well too. So now I was told the medication I take for my cholesterol is more of a preventative measure to protect my heart from diabetes complications so I gather the same drug as many can be used to treat or prevent other things from happening and I am still on a low dose of blood pressure medication to this day and its never gone up. So thats my story lol.....
