Hi, yes ginger root is a flavor profile used in Japanrse and Asian cooking. In Japan it has been used in traditional medicine for centuries.

It helps with motion sickness, stomach upset and has many other uses. I always have some readily available.

Sea sickness, car sickness and more. It is supposed to promote general health and well being. I often garnish with ginger.

I make a puree that I freeze and use as I see fit.

In my humble opinion asking the majority of doctors about taking something not on the drug list like ginger, etc. won't help you get a good answer. It's not their fault. Doctors probably take a couple of hours or at the most a day on nutrition in school. I doubt If they remember any of it. If you find a doctor that knows about vitamins and nutrition, value him or her.
You have to really look for a good nutritionist and hope that your insurance will cover it. Research as much as you can from this site and others.
I'm not anti doctor at all but they have limits on what they are able to learn in school.

I remember you could buy ginger powder in a can years ago, make a tea out of it, my grandmother always fixed ginger tea for my ailments. I haven't been able to find the powder, only the root.
