How Critical Are Abnormal LAFB And LVH In ECG? All The Other Results Were In Perfect Range.

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

HELLO everyone. I had an abnormal ECG back in January and I totally ignored it at that time. My uncle had few blocked arteries and his doctor informed him to inform all the loved ones which are over 50 and super athletic, to take a treadmill test with their cardiologist. I am 59 and I go to the gym 4xweek and workout 45 minutes each session. My workout is half hour walk/run
and 15 minutes of push ups/sit ups. I get an excellent sweat and I feel great. I have an appointment with my primary… read more

Dear HKC,
Thank you for your complete reply. I don't measure my BP everyday but it gets as high as 150/80. My sugar levels were very good until 2 months ago while I was taking Jardiance 25mg but I stopped the pill due to frequent urination and my sugar went high again. I think I will need to go back to the pill since it is a good supliment for heart also. At this point, low sugar is more important to me than frequent urine. Plus the extra urine is all the sugar that is being flushed out, according to the studies I have done about Jardiance. My sinus heart rhythem is normal and all my other test resutls are normal: atrial rate, P-R interval, QRS Duration, Q-T interval, QTC calculation and the axis. I just have LAFB and LVH as abnornmal results. Never had no chest pain, no shortness of breath and I am a former soccer player, but as I mentioned, I go to the gym 4xweek. Soccer is a little too much for me right now. Maybe it is all in my head because I am really scared about my ECG results. I still play very occasionally but gym is my exercise option for now. And yes, both side of my family have heart problems!!! This is what scares me the most. Please let me know if you have more questions and I would love to share all that with you before this coming Thursday which is my appointment with my primary doctor.

LOVE,
Tony

Thanks so much for all your great answers. So I believe I need to visit the cardiologist and take it from there since i have not done the stress test and any of other procedures.

Best Regards
Tony

Hello there
Please take the advice of the Cardiologist, when you get to see him.
It’s very good news that you are feeling well and attend gym regularly.
However, you need a complete revaluation regarding diabetes, so that your Cardiologist is informed about that, from your primary care Doctor 🤗

1st question
What is your blood pressure.

2nd question
What are the results of a stress test.

3rd question
What does your echocardiogram show.

4th question
Any history of congestive heart failure in your family.

Your cardiologist should follow up given your family history.

The LVH is a concern on its own and is usually the result of hbp over time. What does your bp look like with strenuous exercise.

The LAFB is the result of delayed electrical signals in the heart.

The 2 can be related.

It can be critical to get both corrected, altough it sounds like you may have some time. Underlying heart disease is usually part of the cause.

You can minimize further additional vascular damage by controlling your numbers to the nondiabetic range of 4.0(72 usa) to 7.8(140 usa).

This will lead to the best diabetes outcomes. Heart disease takes out half of all diagnosed with diabetes.

Good luck. Praying for wisdom from your cardiology team.

These are just from my perspective. My older cardiologist, who since retired, actually contributed to my issues. He retired at the beginning of covid.

My new general cardiologist was concerned and came up with a treatment plan for me after an echocardiogram confirmed the issues. 1 step at a time.

After 2 heart procedures in about 5 months in 2021, I have normal sinus heart rhythm and normal ejection rate from the left ventricle.

It was 40%, now it's 55-60%. A cardiologist would say that 50-60% is perfect for a 20 year old. I'm 71 years young.

Again good luck. Make sure you and your cardiology team take this seriously over time. Your risk factors, say take it seriously.
