Swollen Left Foot And Sores That Scab Over On Lower Leg Type 2ss

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

These sores scab over and come off in shower , then they seem a little puss like and scab over again. No pain and this has been about a week. My wife cleans them and puts a steroid cream on them they clear up but a couple have come back. Any ideas what this is. And my left foot is a little swollen since this started.

Swelling and sores on the lower leg can be concerning for someone with type 2 diabetes. Here are some important points to consider:

- Foot Care: It's crucial to keep your feet clean and dry to prevent infections. Regularly check your feet for any cuts, sores, or blisters.
- Medical Attention: High-risk patients, including those with abnormal sensation or circulation, should see a foot care specialist every three months.
- Infection Risk: Diabetes can reduce blood flow and damage nerves, making it easier for infections to develop and harder for wounds to heal.

If you have any concerns, it's best to consult with a healthcare professional.
