Additional information Received from my friend @A DiabetesTeam Member

"The single biggest mistake people make is testing the fingertip where the nerves are located," says Renee Amori, MD, assistant professor of medicine in the division of endocrinology at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. Like everything else there's no one size fits all. Prick where you find it convenient and where you're most likely to get blood.

I use my little finger for fasting bgs, first finger for breakfast bgs, middle finger for dinner and ring finger for evening food. I use both finger tips and sides.

I'm getting a little tired of these experts telling us what we should or shouldn't do as regards finger prick testing and then threatening us with dire warnings if we don't comply to their way of thinking.

Do what works best for you. With diabetes we are the experts - after all we do get to know our bodies πŸ™‚

At the start of doing the prick test, I made such a mistake of pricking the top and even sides near the top and it really hurt and painful for 1-2 days. Hah, then By hit and miss, it hurt less towards the side and less traumatic THEN I read what I should have done the first place. Should have researched before pricking myself for the few weeks but experience also taught me to prick at the side. Funny and painful. Take care peeps.
