How Do Kidney Stones Affect Diabetes?
@A DiabetesTeam Member it's actually the other way around
High Blood Sugar over a period of time doubles your chances of developing Kidney Stones
So they (the stones) are a "side effect" of insulin resistance (a big component of Type 2) which messes with the uric acid level in the kidneys and stones develop
Near normal blood sugar control will help prevent stones and maintaining weight in a normal range (BMI 18.5-25) lowers insulin resistance and the side effect of both of those actions would also better manage your diabetes
Thank you very much π that was very helpful information! I only wish that my MD had explained that to me...
Since my last visit, I've made up my own diet, which has really helped...
I watch my carbs very carefully as well.as the kinds of foods I eat..
I only eat non processed foods
...staying away from all boxed or canned foods as well as restaurant and fast foods, Only drink water (never been interested in drinking anything else)!
These.changes.are recent but overall my #s have gotten better
