Exactly - a peak is a peak and even non-diabetics peak out at about 1 hour post - that's fine, that's normal it's the 2 hour post that is "clinically relevant"

Your can be out of normal range or on a peak 20% of the day and that's "normal", diabetic or not

It's how far you recover by hour 2 that matters - whatever happens between the first bite and hour 2 is of no consequence

As a Diabetic you simply want to tame that peak "enough" that whatever your system can handle will allow you to get back to that 140 or lower - but everybody peaks above 140 unless they are eating no carbs...

No average is average

Yes, certain averages even if they are the same are healthier than others. What I mean is...

If my blood peaks at a high average of say 155/8.6 mmols and I have great fasting numbers of say 74/4.1 mmol average on the low end

My daily average would be 115/6.4 mmols - at "great number" that doesn't identify the vascular damage being caused when I was running up in the 150's/8's for a good chunk of the day

If instead I peaked out at 144/8.0 mmols with a little higher fasting average of 84/4.7 mmols causing NO Vascular Damage

My Daily Average is "still" 115/6.4 mmols which is smack between the highest and lowest daily average

Patient number 1 develops Neuropathy, causes kidney, vision and neurological damage to the brain

Patient number 2, with the "same daily average" doesn't get high enough to cause those complications save maybe at "touch" of Neuropathy

Actually i think i just figured out this discrepency
Which is that a high average of 144 is a different concept of peaking for like an hour at 170. And then comong back down below say 140 ,2 hours later. So that a peak average of 144 is a different concept.then a temporary peak of 170
So i think i get it.. Yikes maybe a little.dementia is already setting in..lol

Ok thanx Graham, so i do have a follow.up question on the numbers here and this probably.why i have been asking this question om different ways for years.
But Ive previously heard that of you peak at say 170 for a bit but then get below 140 2 hours after 1st bite then there is no neuro damage. But the above example soinds slightly more anxiety producing. Im.sorry to ask this again iys just the Docs dont bother answering this for me thanx Graham.
