The amount of carbohydrates you need can vary based on individual factors such as your activity level, medication, and overall health goals. Here are some methods to help you manage your carbohydrate intake:

- Carbohydrate Counting: Track how many carbohydrates you eat, as they directly affect your blood glucose. Food labels provide information on the grams of carbohydrates per portion.
- Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load: These tools rank carb-based foods based on how much they raise blood sugar, helping you make better food choices.
- Plate Method: Visualize your plate divided into sections: half with vegetables, one quarter with healthy protein, and one quarter with whole grains or starchy vegetables.

Consulting a dietitian can help tailor a plan to your specific needs.

Good morning from South Jersey @A DiabetesTeam Member
I eat to my blood glucose meter and the nondiabetic range of 4.0(72 usa) to 7.8(140 usa). Both before eating numbers and 2 hour numbers. Baby steps.

This range does not add to the cumulative vascular damage from glucose spikes. That cumulative vascular damage feeds diabetes complications and comorbidities. Baby steps.

If you do this you can live your best life with diabetes. Baby steps.

Some people can handle 100-130 net carbs daily.
Some only 50-60 net carbs daily.
Some only 20-30 net carbs daily.
Then there is me at 2-3 net carbs per meal.
Baby steps.

A good point to start is 1 serving, 15 net carbs per meal. Then when you add up the carbs from vegetables, eggs, cheese nuts and a serving of fruit you are in the 100-130 net carb range per day. Baby steps.
----------------------------
15 net carbs is:

1 slice of bread, or

1/3 cup
rice, or potatoes, or pasta, or

1/2 to 3/4 cup
Beans, or corn.
-----------------------------

If that is too much, try halving the net carbs and see where you are. Eat to your blood glucose meter. Baby steps.

Never give up, never surrender, never ever.
You got this.
Have a wonderful day.
