Have Any Of You Got Pancreatitis After Taking Metformin? I Did Last December And They Told Me Not To Take Metformin Again, Just Diet.
I am a diabetic. A1C was 6.9 and now is 6.4. Have lost 17 lbs since December.
Thank you Hkc
Wow, such a huge difference. Good you noticed.
I've been taking the max dose of Metformin for 10 years with no problem. Accidentally, I stopped taking it for about 4 days. It was an accident. I was dietically still being good but I couldn't get my readings below 200 and I didn't know why until I realized I was missing the dosage.
Metformin has zero effect on the pancreas - it works on the Liver and only the liver - has nothing to do with insulin production or production of any hormone for that matter - it simply regulates how much stored sugar the Liver can release
Pancreatitis is listed as a rare but serious side effect of some diabetes medications, including Janumet (Sitagliptin/Metformin). However, it is not specifically mentioned as a side effect of Metformin alone in my knowledge base.
