You should monitor it. I eat to my readings.

To tell you the truth Carmen, I feel much better when I do a very minimal amount of testing. I haven't tested today and I was able to enjoy my Thanksgiving dinner with no worries. I enjoyed the adorable children and people without a thought for myself because the self takes care of itself. But, that's me. You need to follow what you believe is best for you.

A Doctor looks at things differently - they "treat you" in reaction to a blood test or an examination or MRI or whatever, they don't "prevent something from happening" because then you wouldn't need them

That's the way the system works - something happens, they react with a prescription pad and the world goes on

So for the Doctor there is no value in you testing unless you are using Insulin or Sulfonylurea drugs - either of which can cause a deadly low so you "must test" to prevent imminent death

But for the Doc whether or not YOU test they are going to rely on the A1C alone to add/change or increase medication

From your perspective you might want to "prevent" the need for more, new, extra meds and testing will give you the feedback you need to make adjustments to prevent the need for those meds by reacting and making the changes yourself

So different motivations - neither is right or wrong, just going for different objectives

I wear the Libre2 CGM system - have been for a few years now

I am not now, nor have I ever taken an Anti-Diabetic Med - not even Metformin

Has the CGM allowed me to manage "without meds"?

Most Likely but because of that my Doc only sees me once a year for my A1C Test/Diabetes check and never writes a script - I'm Not a Good Customer for Her - makes no money off me....

Some doctors don't think it is needed but monitoring you sugars helps you know how the food you are eating affects your blood sugars. Controlling your blood sugars is both the food you eat and any meds you take.
