Who is the "they" you are talking about?

Your Doctor should be treating to bring your A1C under 7.0 if it's above

General Guidelines for Emergency Care is when it hits 400/22.2 mmols will generally get you hooked up to insulin until they can get your numbers down

If you are talking about "yourself", if you feel your numbers are too high then You should be yapping at your Doctor about increasing/adding medication to get under control - the Doc works for you after all
