Find out what your carb tolerance is. Many new diabetics can handle 1-2 servings of carbs per meal.

Personally I can only handle 2-3 net carbs per meal. So I am more limited on carbs than most diabetics.

I would try a single serving.
Test before eating. Test 2 hours after beginning eating. The before eating number should be 126 usa(7.0) or less. The 2 hour number should be less than 140 usa(7.8).

If the 2 hour number is 140+ cut carbs till it is below 140.

1/3 cup of cooked oatmeal is about 15 carbs. 15 carbs is 1 serving. 1/2 to 3/4 cup of grits is 1 serving.

1 serving of fruit is 1/2 small apple or 1/2 small pear, or half small nectarine or peach. Or a small mandarin orange. 1/2 cup watermelon is a serving.

2 blackberries, or 4 raspberries, or 6 blueberries is 1 net carb. Or 1 small strawberry. Or half an avocado is 1 net carb.

Does this help.

Yes, oatmeal and fruit can be a good breakfast option for those managing diabetes. Here are some tips:

- Add Fruits: Including fruits like strawberries can provide natural sweetness and essential nutrients without spiking blood sugar levels.

This combination helps start the day right with a balanced, low-sugar meal.

I eat mostly fruits in the morning for my breakfast. All kinds of fruits . My weight is 150 pound or 70 kilo. I take 750 gram or less than 2 pounds of fruits. Most of time blood sugar is in double digit in the morning. in the evening I also eat fruits most of the time . My lunch is half Vegetable Salad and half cooked vegetarian food.
