Should have stopped at one bowl 😁

I regularly eat chilli but it's the beans you have to watch

Beans are pretty diabetic friendly - they have lots of carbs but they also have lots of fiber in there

1/2 cup of kidney beans has 19 carbs but 7 of them are fiber so "net 12" per 1/2 cup

The tomato sauce/tomato paste/stewed tomato in an average bowl of chilli would add another 5-10 carbs

I make my chilli in a batch - 1 lb ground meat, 19oz can of Kidney Beans (low salt is better for the heart), 19oz of stewed/crushed tomato, 5.5oz tomato paste, chilli spice mix

I split that into "7" portions and each comes in at 18 net carbs - so "one" portion is fine for me, maybe even another "1/2", but at 27 carbs that would be "pushing MY tolerance"

For "Me" 25 carbs per meal is "safe", with chilli, because of the fiber and fat content I "may" be able to get away with 30-35 carbs before I "stay out of range past the 2hour point" but two full bowls would certainly jack "my" numbers

Good for You Nutritionally doesn't translate into Blood Sugar Safe

Know your Carb Allowance per meal and don't overspend it 😁

Chili can be a good option for people with diabetes, but it depends on the ingredients. Beans in chili are high in fiber, which can help stabilize blood sugar, but they also contain carbohydrates that may raise glucose levels. If your fasting blood sugar (FBS) was higher, it could be due to the portion size or added ingredients like sugar, high-carb beans, or starchy vegetables. Try smaller portions and monitor your blood sugar.
