I do portion control and walk after eating. I learned there are limits to what I can and cannot have.

Members connected over navigating holiday meals with diabetes without guilt, sharing a consistent approach of portion control, enjoying favorite foods in smaller amounts, and staying active with post-meal walks to help manage blood sugar. Several members described specific strategies that work for them, including making sugar-free alternatives like cranberry sauce, avoiding trigger foods that cause cravings, testing blood glucose to understand how different foods affect their bodies, and substituting fruit for traditional desserts. A recurring theme was the importance of self-compassion and balance, with members encouraging each other to enjoy the holidays mindfully, forgive themselves if they slip, and remember that managing diabetes is about progress, not perfection.

I eat to my blood glucose meter and the nondiabetic range of 4.0(72 usa) to 7.8(140 usa).

Since I know how each food affects my blood glucose numbers, it's easier to know what not to eat.

I stick to proteins, fat, very low carb vegetables, and very low carb soups.

Tomorrow I will prepare sausage gravy for my family. Then we will eat Thai Lettuce Wraps at midday. Then I will prepare some ribs.

The next day I will prepare a ham with carrots, potatoes, onions.

We will have a Christmas Day, family Christmas dinner about 1-2 pm. A quite extensive menu with a list of foods fit for Royalty, longer than your arms and ours.

Have a wonderful Christmas week.

I eat what I like but in sensible portions and at the right time of day then after I've washed up I make sure I take my beloved Benji out for a good long brisk walk or take him to the beach for a good long walk weather permitting. My way means I can have sensible portions of all the traditional "forbidden fruits" and my sugars won't rise to a dangerous level as Benji's long brisk walk will lower my sugars.

100% agree. I love junk food while watching movies or reading a good book. I'm so addicted to Pepsi I need a intervention lol
But I think it's ok just monitor your intake. My numbers are still good with the chips and dip.

I agree with you, Scooby. Certain foods I don't keep in my home even though I love them because they will be finished as soon as I get home.🙋
