I can’t use cgm as my arm gets very sore possibly due to immune system reaction. I’m wondering if g7 would give less reaction as it can be put on the abdomen.

It hasn't been approved yet by Health Canada but it's been submitted - it was only FDA approved back last May so still a super new product

If the price in the US translates to Canada they will run about $150 CDN/Month, my Libre2 comes in at about $205 CDN/Month so about 25% savings BUT because it's an Over-The-Counter product none of our health insurance policies would cover it so it may have a low uptake

But in the US this does cost about 1/2 as much as the prescription ones

Stelo is made by Dexcom and based on their Dex g7 sensors but doesn't have to meet all the same accuracy criteria as stringently because it's Over-The-Counter

Specifically it is "not designed" for insulin users, the approval was for non-insulin using Type 2's as the target market

Probably more than accurate enough for monitoring your lifestyle/diet effect on your blood sugar - their stated accuracy is +/-20% of a (lab drawn sample) 93% of the time - so if you blood sugar was "actually" 100 then a reading of 80 to 120 would be within the accuracy of the sensor "most" of the time

For comparison, the g7 has an accuracy of +/- 8% (arm) or 9% (abdomen) - so over twice as accurate on any given scan compared to the OTC Stelo

So a few things to consider about the product

Less Expensive but Less Accurate and not covered at all by insurance, but better than finger sticks if you want to use a CGM and your insurance won't chip in
