Inner Leg Cramping From Top To Bottom? How To Determine The Reasons Behind It? What Can Be Done That I Have Yet To Try? Any Suggestions?

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭
Kapuskasing, ON

So been having some issues with cramping on the inner part of my legs and I know for awhile I have been taking less Magnesium so last night I started to take a bit more at one point I was up to 1000 at least and today I wore my tension socks but still feel sensitive up higher inner leg so now my question is how does a person know if this is a nerve issue because of my diabetes or if its as I said a lack of magnesium issue or other?

@A DiabetesTeam Member you could do a blood test for electrolytes to see if you are magnesium or potassium deficient

That would rule in/out a deficiency as the cause

Have you ever had a vascular ultrasound?

Your Family Doc (that's what we call a Primary or Internist in Canada) can give you a referral

A Vascular Doc will be able to look at the results and tell if it's something like Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) or Peripheral Neuropathy or a few other vascular diseases/issues that could be resulting in the pain

And if all that checks out then it's of to the Neurologist to see if it's a neurological issue and not vascular or deficiency related 😁

Sometimes you have to figure out what it "ISN'T" before you find what it is 😆

And of course you may have just pulled a muscle and the diabetes is greatly extending the healing/recovery time

It could also be from lack of exercise/moving around. For leg cramps the only thing that works for me when i get them is Hylands Leg cramp pills. These can be found at walmart and all pharmacies, and are usually with the vitamins.Once you try them and find they work for you you can also get them at Amazon. They sell bbottles of 100,where the stores usually have just the 40 or 50 count, and they are fairly inexpensive.Heat is the other thing that works for me..

It's chilly here too in the minus 20's which pretty cold for us

As long as it breaks in the next day or so

We are heading to Casino Rama in Orillia on Friday for two nights, which has recently got super whacked with snow

Two concerts - KC & Sunshine Band on Friday and Air Supply on Saturday night

You know you grew up in the 1970's when 😁

Sorry @A DiabetesTeam Member I forgot for a minute there that you are somewhat North of "Northern Ontario" 😁

So yes, could be Sudbury, North Bay or even Thunder Bay for a Vascular exam

Saw that it was -41C in the Kap (maybe yesterday)

That's -41 F "as well" - about minus 40 in both systems is where the lines cross

That's Deep Freeze no matter how you measure the mercury 😂

much as you can you got something there with you someone let someone rub
your thigh or your leg or whatever part of the leg is on that's about all I
know
