Just 'graduated' From Pre-diabetic. My Wife (does Most Of The Cooking) Is Frantic To Find Cooking Instruction.
What are the best cookbooks and or classes available?
If you have health insurance they offer diabeties classes just have to call and ask to sign up 😁
First, tell her to settle down. Just have her cook normally. Try to cook with the healthiest oils, and stuff like that but you aren't on any big restricted diet. Just try and stay away from the sweets and watch your carbohydrates. Whole fruit is better than juice. You can get books on diabetes nutrition and cooking at the ADA American Diabetes Association. I check on Ebay and either put in American Diabetes Association or Diabetic cookbooks, diabetic nutrition, something like that. You can get books cheap that will help.
You are the one who has to keep track of your carbohydrates. You shouldn't have to do much other than make wise choices and stay away from sweets as much as you can.
Cook clean and don't eat prepared foods. Just cook what you like with little or no sugars, low salt and don't worry too much about the fats. Just never use Margarine, Becel or any 'Just like butter" products. Use real butter, coconut oil or olive oil.
Read dr.Jason Fung.......Don't put too much value in what the ADA has to say about diabetes dieting. They do NOT know what they are doing to people
