Why Are My Before Bed And First Test In The Morning My Higher Bg Numbers?

This seems counter intuitive to me and is complicating my ability to make sense of things and plan my diet accordingly. I have been testing for over a month now. Both my night/morning readings average the same- 125mg/dl. My before and after meals readings average 113-116mg/dl. I am a 67 yr old prediabetic on no meds. trying to lower my A1C of 6.3. My bg seems backwards to me, my fasting (night time) numbers should be the lower ones it seems. Do I just ignore what I don't understand and continue… read more

Your daily calorie intake should be 60% protein 20%carbs and 20% fibre.

Your fasting blood sugars in the morning are higher because your liver stored glucose and because you are insulin resistant it dumps glucose into your blood to compensate. You can control this phenomenon through longer fasting and exercise. Hope this helps.
