Hi Everyone Can Anyone Of Our Dear Members Have Any Information About Acupressure And If It's Beneficial To Us Diabetics
Hi again all you warriors and @A DiabetesTeam Member,
Acupressure for Diabetes Infographic- Activ Living.
Don't forego your medications or your treatment plan. Do not expect a miracle cure.
Acupressure is an ancient technique that uses stimulation of certain pressure points around the body to help cure ailments. Several studies have shown that acupressure for diabetes is effective in maintaining normal blood sugar levels.
The Five Pressure Points For Diabetes Include:
The acupressure point for diabetes in hand on the inside of the wrist and between the thumb and forefinger, between the big toe and the second toe, below the knees on both sides, and at the top of the calves on both legs.
Massaging these points for five minutes with gentle pressure helps improve digestion and blood circulation. This helps to lower blood sugar levels. You can use this acupressure treatment for diabetes every day as it is safe and has no known side effects. But also remember to follow a daily fitness routine as well.
Make sure that you have a well-rounded approach towards controlling diabetes which includes what you eat, what you drink, your exercise, and acupressure. Visit the Activ Living health blog for more information.
So in short this can help as a part of your overall treatment, but your carb count, your portion control, your medications, your exercise, and even yor sleep can have a bigger effect.
Baby steps.
I suppose I'm a little biased @A DiabetesTeam Member and all you warriors.
I am Japanese, and have personal experience with better than good results. Twice.
I was already in my late 50s when I decided to give the accupressure points a try. Specifically my right ankle.
A little background...
I had first severely damaged my ankle that did not completely recover as a teenager back in the 60s with a severe ankle sprain while playing street basketball every day.
And of course while favoring it, my left ankle was sprained repeatedly too. I also reinjured my right ankle a couple of times too. Ahh, to be young and invincible again.
Of course, I also ran every day, played baseball, American football, football/ Soccer, and more. I hiked, ran, swam and more. Of course the ankle injuries put a bit of a crimp in my activities. My Mom suggested acupuncture/ accupressure to speed healing. I tried it a few times but saw no immediate measureable results.
Fast forward many years and many repeated ankle injuries as well as other injuries.
Someone I was acquainted with from church was busted up from a motorcycle accident and treated by doctors. When I first saw him 2 days later, when 3 of us broght over meals, my assessment was at least 3 weeks before he could function somewhat normally.
He talked about speeding healing with increasing blood flow with various pressure points, from tips from his martial arts training. I saw him 5 days later when he showed up at a friends house. He was moving much better than I expected, so I asked him what changed. He said repeated pressure points accupressure is what speeded his healing. I filed that away for future reference.
About 3 months later I rolled my ankle, just sliding on some pea gravel. It was so messed up, my evaluation from past experience was 3 months before it would be strong enough to not have to think about it all the time. I took a vacation day because it happened on a Wednesday and I was scheduled for 4 10s and already had every F,S,S off. That would give me 4 days off before going back to work on Monday.
I started the accupressure treatments in between the icing the ankle that day. By Sunday dinner I evaluated my ankle and realized although it still hurt, it was stronger than when I was 15 years old.
I continued my treatment 2-3 times an hour for the next week. I called my healing complete.
About a year later, I severely rolled my weak left ankle. Repeat the treatment of the ankle. Now both my ankles are still stronger than when I was a teen.
Do your research, apply the knowledge, be persistant and do it multiple times an hour for 3-5 minutes at a time. It can be painful but it works. Be persistant and dedicated. Baby steps. I can do baby steps and you can too.
You got this.
I wish for you more good days than bad and have many exceptional days too.
And never give up, never surrender, never ever.
Have a wonderful day.
It can be beneficial but how beneficial depends on the patient cos everyone is different
Great information, Hkc. It's amazing to me that so many American doctors usually think their way is the only way and that insurance here doesn't cover it. They don't look outside their little box but I suppose we're all guilty of that with something- not just medicine. We need to be open to learning!
Hi Hkc I'm so grateful for the info you provide, as well as Graham, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. We all need to apply logic with anything new and yes watching our diet and regular excersise is essential. Sending light your way🙏💡
