The very tiny veins that feed the skin can get damaged and it leads to itchy skin

You can try any of the various moisturizers (anything from "intensive care" all the way up to a few marketed specifically to diabetics). If they do the trick then you are fine but if it becomes chronic/persistent then you should have your Doctor take a look - there are some good, prescription, non-steroid creams available if you need more than an over-the-counter product can give you

If it goes from itching to burning then definitely have the Doc take a look. That could more serious then just a skin condition
